Food Choices That Make a Difference

The eight chapters in this manual identify the environmental impacts related to the production, processing, distribution, sale, and final preparation of food in the United States.

This publication is designed as a resource for high school teachers to use in their curriculum, especially in Family Living and Consumer Science. Each section develops an issue related to our food system and includes resources for both teachers and students to explore the environmental implications of that issue.

Topics include water, soils, carbon load, livestock and poultry production, seafood choices, sustainability in the kitchen, and creating school gardens.
